The Great Heat Escape
With Seattle in the midst of the heatwave of the century, I set out to escape the heat on the water. The trip was an afternoon trip so the captain already knew exactly where the whales were hiding so we made a run down towards Port Townsend to meet up again with T125a Jetsam & T128 Flotsam who paralleled the boat swimming beside us rhythmically for a while before we broke away from them to let them keep going. After parting ways we went looking out for more, we found a few bait balls but no whales just birds. One of these bird parties though had half a dozen Puffins in attendance which was a wonderful treat and allowed me to check them off my wildlife list finally. Spent a little more time out on the water before making our way back to port.
